JUNIOR
HANDLER
AWARD
PROGRAM
By
George
Pirman
I want
to
remind
everyone
that
Purina
is one
of our
major
sponsors
for this
program.
We want
to thank
Mr. Rod
Carter,
Mr.
Eddie
Wiley,
and Mike
Luchetta
of
Nestle
Purina
for
putting
this
together
for us.
They
again
have
come up
with
some
real
nice
Purina
Jackets
for the
top
Junior
Handlers
within
the
program.
DON’T
FORGET
WHAT
PURINA
DOES FOR
OUR
SPORT
WHEN YOU
SELECT
YOUR DOG
FOOD!
PAM
DAUGHERTY
WINS THE
ROLFE
BEAGLE
CLUB AKC
LICENSED
TRIAL
WITH HER
OWN
“WILSON’S
HILLARY”.
I
received
the
following
information
from
Jack
Hyden
which I
think is
a great
idea for
our
Junior
Beagle
Handlers
and
maybe
some
other
States
can
pickup
on this
and help
our
youth
into
small
game
hunting.
2010
INDIANA
BEAGLERS
ALLIANCE
YOUTH
HUNT AT
SALAMONIE
RESERVOIR.
Saturday
October
30,
2010.
We will
meet at
Bozarths
camp
resort
at
7.00am,
hopefully
have the
youth in
the
field by
8.00am
and meet
back at
Bozarths
by
11:30am
( leave
the
field by
11:00am
) This
year at
least 2
hours,
possibly
more, will
be
allotted
for
lunch.
Then
there
will be
a two
hour
Rabbit
Squirrel
hunt in
the
afternoon.
The
final
format
has not
been
decided,
but will
be in
place
within a
couple
weeks.
These
events
are
“Co-Sponsored
Events”
with
Salamonie
Reservoir
(IDNR),
National
Cur &
Feist
Breeders
Association,
and the
National
Kennel
Club.
Registration
will
“START”
August
1, 2010
and end
when the
last
youth is
registered.
Pre-Registration
is
mandatory.
Numbers
of youth
hunter’s
will be
limited
to
45-50,
(additional
youth
may be
able to
register
depending
on the
number
of
mentors
and
dog
handlers) so
the
sooner
you
register
the
better.
A youth
can
bring
their
own
shotgun,
or one
will be
provided
by
Indiana
Beaglers
Alliance. If
we need
to
provide
a
shotgun
we need
to know
as soon
as
possible
after
registration.
We need
all the
help we
can get.
We need
mentors
to
supervise
the
youth
and
quite a
few dog
handlers
with
good
beagles
&
squirrel
dogs to
make
this
event a
success.
Youth
can
register
for both
the
rabbit
and
squirrel
hunt, or
register
for only
one
depending
on their
area of
interest.
There
will be
a free
lunch
between
both
hunts.
There
will be
at least
2 1/2
hours
for
lunch
and the
lie and
bragging
time.
Please
contact
either
Jack
Hyden
574-551-4067
or Don
Lecount
574-551-1461
to
register
a youth
or sign
up to
help.
Thanks
to all
for
making
the
Indiana
Beaglers
Alliance
youth
hunt at
Salamonie
the best
in the
state.
Jack
Hopefully
I will
get a
report
on how
the kids
did on
this
hunt and
maybe
some
photos.
Thinking
of
photos,
I sure
hope to
receive
some
good
photos
of our
Junior
Beagle
Handlers
in their
bright
new
orange
T-Shirts
and Red
Purina
Hats.
Send, or
e-mail,
them to
me or
e-mail
them
direct
to
Hounds
and
Hunting
Magazine
at
info@houndsandhunting.com.
This is
a new
service
from our
magazine
as for
many
years
they
could
not
publish
these
photos
but at
this
time
they
will
accept
Jpeg or
PDF
photos
and I
will
too.
